The 50 acre New Lount Nature Reserve contains mature woodland, grassland and ponds, some old and some new.
Once the site of the New Lount Colliery the site now supports a diverse abundance of wildlife and around 1 mile of paths and bridleways.
In some parts, remains of the old colliery can still be seen, such as railway tracks of differing gauges.
Near the car park, there is a information board showing the layout (including photographs) of the site when it was still in use.
